The Tuition Academy provides tutoring in Maths and English for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. These are the foundational years in a child’s education, so some extra help will go a long way in preparing a primary school student for the inevitability of high school. In our Mathematics classes, our teachers ensure the students are instructed in the fundamentals of numeracy. In English, our teachers seek to extend and challenge the literacy capabilities of all students so that they can excel above and beyond their potential. NAPLAN: Year 3, Year 5, Year 7, Year 9

What is NAPLAN?
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. NAPLAN tests the skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life, such as reading, writing, spelling and numeracy. The examinations are undertaken nationwide, every year, in the second full week in May.

The NAPLAN test has 4 components:
Reading
Writing
Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation)
Numeracy

At The Tuition Academy, we have an excellent team of teachers with the best resources to assist our students in their preparation for the NAPLAN test. We understand that many students can feel anxious about exams. However, with solid preparation and practice in a positive and welcoming environment, our team at The Tuition Academy will help students develop their confidence in numeracy and literacy for the NAPLAN test and beyond.

High School Preparation Classes for Year 6 Students

High School is a significant and at times, a daunting transition for Year 6 students. At The Tuition Academy, we understand that this can be a difficult and challenging time. Consequently, we have developed a program to ensure that students going into Year 7 are prepared, confident and organised for the year ahead.

Our team of highly qualified and experienced Maths and English teachers work with the Year 6 students in small groups. The teachers introduce numeracy and literacy skills that will not only assist them in their transition to high school, but also help them achieve higher grades as they begin their new journey.

We ensure that our students have a solid understanding of the Year 7 curriculum in Maths and English so that they are ready to achieve above and beyond their potential in high school. Senior School Preparation for Year 10 Students

At The Tuition Academy, we believe that a successful transition into Senior School requires certain skills and abilities that are best developed prior to the commencement of Year 11 and 12.

For our Year 10 students, we have developed a program (run throughout Term 4) that focuses on the skills required for excellent results in Years 11 and 12.

Our highly experienced English teachers focus on developing skills in essay writing. This is of utmost importance, not just in English but across many other senior subjects. The HSC examinations in English, Modern/Ancient History, Legal Studies, Economics and Business Studies (among many others) all require essays as responses to set questions. Our team of exceptional HSC English teachers will help equip students with the skills and knowledge required to achieve excellent results as they begin their final years in high school. Once students develop an early understanding of the structure and language of essay writing, they will certainly excel across many subjects.

Our Maths teachers focus on developing skills in numeracy and mathematical concepts to prepare them for Years 11 and 12. Our team of highly experienced HSC Maths teachers will ensure that students have a solid understanding of the curriculum by working through set questions and understanding the formulae for the topics in Years 11 and 12.

School Holiday Workshops

Throughout the year, there will be many opportunities for students to further their skills in various areas of their learning. These courses will be conducted in small groups and include the following:

Essay Writing Workshops (Year 11 and 12)

Essay writing is a necessary and fundamental skill required for English and HSIE examinations. It is crucial to develop and perfect excellent essay skills in order to maximize results under exam conditions. At The Tuition Academy, we offer the essay writing workshops during the school holidays to help students improve their skills in the following areas:

  Analytical writing - students will learn how to analyse an essay question, plan a solid and well structured answer with a strong thesis and concluding paragraph
  Essay language and grammar - students will learn the vocabulary necessary for outstanding essay writing
  Essay writing under exam conditions - students will learn how to write a thorough and well structured answer within a time limit to prepare them for upcoming exams. Students will be given past HSC exam questions to ensure their readiness for future exams. Practice makes perfect!

Year 11 and 12 Exam Preparation

This involves an intensive one week course in Mathematics and English where students will be given the opportunity to revise and study past examination papers. Exposure to and analysis of previous examinations is essential to success in forthcoming tests and assessments, allowing students to maximise their results and unlock their potential. Students will also be provided with HSC sample responses to enhance their preparation and understanding of the requirements of the exam.

Year 11 and 12 Supervised and Assisted Study Sessions

This allows students the opportunity to prepare for upcoming assessment tasks and examinations. The sessions will be conducted for one week during the school holidays where students will be supervised by one of our tutors. As well as supervision, assistance will also be provided should our students require it to help them achieve outstanding results.

The sessions will be conducted for one week during the school holidays where students will be supervised by one of our tutors. As well as supervision, assistance will also be provided should our students require it to help them achieve outstanding results.

Essay Marking Services

Essay writing is a necessary and fundamental skill required for English and HSIE examinations. It is crucial to develop and perfect excellent essay skills in order to maximize results under exam conditions. At The Tuition Academy, we offer an Essay Marking Service to help students improve their skills. Essays will be returned with a full commentary and explanation of strengths and weaknesses. All essays will be marked and returned within 72 hours of payment being received.

Please ensure the marking criteria for the set task is submitted with the draft essay.

Pricing for students currently enrolled at The Tuition Academy:

  $20 per essay under 2500 words for currently enrolled students
  $30 per essay under 2500 words for students NOT currently enrolled at The Tuition Academy

Send payment

  If paying by cash or cheque, you can pay in person at The Tuition Academy in Strathfield.
  If paying by credit card, please send an email to payments@tuitionacademy.com.au, or contact us on 1300 98 97 96 for further instructions.

You can submit a hard copy of your essay in person or submit it via email as an attached Microsoft Word document to: essays@tuitionacademy.com.au. Please note that essays submitted in person will need to be picked up from our Strathfield Centre. This option is perhaps best for currently enrolled students.
